The ASP has evolved to be much more than a school. It is a program of actions with directed ethos toward physics as an engine for development in Africa.

ACP Fundraiser– Support African Students & Researchers

The upcoming African Conference on Physics 2025 (ACP2025) is shaping up to be a landmark event for the continent. So far, over 600 participants have registered, and nearly 200 abstracts have been submitted—clear evidence of the growing momentum, enthusiasm, and dedication within the African physics community.

But a critical question remains:

Will African students and early-career researchers be able to attend in person, share their work, and build the vital international networks that shape scientific careers?

We face a pressing challenge: the urgent need for financial support to ensure broad, in-person participation from across the continent.

Historically, major international physics conferences have helped launch careers, foster global collaborations, and inspire the next generation of scientists. ACP2025 has the potential to do the same for African talent—but only if we make it accessible.

Unfortunately, many African students and researchers cannot afford the travel and lodging costs required to attend. Without significant funding support, the conference risks becoming inaccessible to those who could benefit from it most.

Why Your Support Matters

By helping students attend ACP2025, you’re not just funding a trip—you’re investing in:

  • Equity and access in science
  • Knowledge exchange between African physicists and the global scientific community
  • The growth of local research ecosystems
  • The future of science and innovation on the African continent

On average, it costs $1,200–$1,500 USD to cover travel and accommodation for one student. With your help, we can raise enough to support dozens of students in 2025.

Every contribution—whether $10, $50, or $100—goes directly toward enabling student participation.

We’re calling on friends of the African School of Physics, international partners, alumni, and institutions to come together and support this effort.
