The ASP has evolved to be much more than a school. It is a program of actions with directed ethos toward physics as an engine for development in Africa.

ASP2024 Alumni Online Presentation Awards

We are very excited to present to you the three winners of the ASP2024 Alumni Online Presentation.

This edition, 18 alumni of ASP2024 competed for the ASP Alumni Online Presentation Awards. On the basis of the evaluations of all contributed oral presentations by the assigned judges, we have selected three award winners for their outstanding presentations on high-impact work representing significant advances in the field of fundamental physics and its applications. Each winner is allocated € 1,000 towards participating in the African Conference on Fundamental and Applied Physics (ACP) by giving an invited or contributed talk. In exceptional cases, participation in similar events talking in Africa —or travels for physics research or education purposes— will be considered. This award is not given in cash; the recipient may claim the award by contacting the ASP-IOC, as long as he/she is still a student or post-doc in an accredited institution.

The three winners are:

  • Rajae Sammani, Mohammed V University, Morocco
  • Fatma Ezzahra Dhif, University of Tunis El Manar, Tunisia
  • Obed Maniraguha, University of Rwanda, Rwanda

“Thank you for this incredible experience and for the countless opportunities this program has offered. From the very beginning, starting with the school, it has been a truly enriching event on so many levels. It allowed me to explore new physics areas which incited exciting potential intersections with my own work, connect with inspiring people, and form cherished friendships. Extending this wonderful journey  and providing us with the chance to  present our own work as young researchers has been invaluable, and I am sincerely grateful for this recognition.  Thank you for everything.”

Rajae Sammani, Mohammed V University, Morocco

It provided me with a unique platform to present my research, interact with distinguished experts, and learn from peers across the continent. The diverse range of topics covered, coupled with the guidance from renowned scientists, has expanded my understanding of fundamental and applied physics. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of this vibrant scientific community and for the invaluable insights I’ve gained. It has truly been an inspiring journey that motivates me to continue pursuing excellence in my field.”

Fatma Ezzahra Dhif, University of Tunis El Manar, Tunisia

“I am truly honored by this recognition from ASP, which celebrates a journey filled with dedication, learning, and growth. This experience has deepened my knowledge and passion for Space and Earth Physics, as well as my commitment to contributing positively to the scientific community. I am grateful for the incredible support from my mentors, peers, and ASP, which has been instrumental in reaching this milestone. I look forward to future opportunities to apply and share what I’ve learned, and to continue advancing in this field.”
